Capt. LouWhere do you start when you talk about the Captain??? I wasn't sure what was happening when he started turning up at gigs. Captain Lou, in my opinion, is actually two people, much like all wrestling personalities. Give him a mic. . .grin, run, & duck because you never know what can happen. Yeah, I'm gonna stick with the guiding light too. . but from a safe distance:-) Back in the early '80s, Lou would take over, grab the mic, rant and rave, make you listen, make you love the 'Q'. . .cause if you didn't. . .well, who was gonna argue with *HIM*??? Then something happened. . .I met Lou Albano. No, I know you're thinking "The Captain *is* Lou Albano", but that really isn't all true. The man you see onstage, in the ring or wherever, is a vision. . .yep, beard band, pierced cheek and all, it ain't Lou!! Lou Albano, on the other hand, is a soft-spoken kind hearted person. Yes, REALLY!! I can't say I know him well, but I will say, every time I have spoken with him, he has been an incredible sweetheart!! During his most recent bout of 'Q' gigging, I told him how much my son adored the Mario Brothers show that he did a few years back. I told him how every time the show would start, I would point to the set and say to Kane, my son, "I know Mario". . . to which he would reply " You do *NOT*!" Lou got a big kick out of that. Actually, my son was talked out of going to that gig at the last minute by my snow-fearing mother . I returned home late that evening with Lou's autograph and a report of an amazing show, Kane decided then and there he wouldn't let his grandma talk him out of rockin'-&-rollin' ever again! That's the spirit, my boy!! It was really
great seeing Lou with the 'Q' again this past December. . .he brings a
certain joonessayqua, lol, to the mix. Although, for anyone who was at
this gig, I'm sure you will attest, there were a few moments when I thought
he was going to take it to the next level. . . let's jut say I laughed
a lot that night!! Lou and the 'Q'. . .quite a combo! |
