Terry & Joey & Wanda

When I was in my late teens, I was the assistant manager of a record shop in New Haven. I worked with a lot of really interesting people who were all involved in the local music scene beyond the store. Wanda was a dj at the University of New Haven's radio station. Like any college radio station, the on air talent consisted of students who had the desire to learn but not that much experience in the field. I had talked about the boys with my coworkers on many occasions. At that time, I spent a majority of my weekend time driving somewhere with my pal Donna en route to the next 'Q' gig.

One day Wanda asked me if I could get her an interview with the boys. It seemed like a fair proposal. I'd give it a shot. I don't really remember the details of how it came to be but Joey and Terry agreed to do the interview. I picked the boys up at the hotel and shortly after we arrived at the studio. Unfortunately what I didn't know was that Wanda didn't do her homework. She knew virtually nothing about NRBQ and never bothered to ask me for any background information and I never thought to supply her with any. Needless to say, Terry figured this out within the first couple of seconds. Poor Wanda, she was never the same afterTterry got through with her. Imagine being in a tight little room with all that Terry energy!! Joey really didn't say too much. I seem to remember him having a sore throat and sucking on Parks mints.

We listended to the tape of the interview on the ride back to the hotel and everyone had a good laugh. As Terry said in the interview "That's what college radio's all about, right Wan-daa!" Poor dear
