4/22/09: Update on The Clang! Thang

Online ticket sales end today at 6 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for all events. $30, each event, cash only!!! See you Friday!!!

First, let us say we can’t wait to see everyone in about a month!!  Can you believe it's almost here???

Here are the latest developments:

The Terry Adams Rock & Roll Quartet will have TWO drummers – Tom Ardolino will be joining Conrad Choucroun onstage. Also appearing with the Quartet will be the Whole Wheat Horns – Donn Adams and Klem Klimek.

We’ll also be celebrating the release of three new CDs on Clang! - Terry’s great new one, Holy Tweet; Chris Ligon’s new CD Look At The Birdy (18 tracks selected from over 20 years of recordings, and featuring younger brother Scott); and the latest from Japanese rockabilly band The Hot Shots, Teen Street.

Chris Ligon, a brilliant songwriter and humorist, will be appearing both nights, as will the wonderful P.J. O’Connell. Chie Kodama, bandleader and singer for The Hot Shots, will be making a special appearance. This just in - the improvisational duo, The Self-Evident Truths of Terry Adams and Tom Ardolino, will be making a rare appearance too.

We’ll also be treated to amazing “film jamboree” interludes from Chicago’s Heather McAdams, who is a well-known cartoonist, experimental filmmaker, and sometime-animator for MTV. She has a crazy 16mm film collection, and will show us a specially-compiled selection of clips each night. They could be music clips from the 1930’s-50’s, TV ads, or trashy trailers.

The Duplex Planet’s David Greenberger has also been added to the afternoon bill on Saturday. And who can forget that The Chandler Travis Philharmonic will delight us with their own brand of musical magic?? As if THAT wasn't enough, then we can all move it on down to the pub for the much anticipated Q-tennany!!!!  Wooohoooooooo, this sounds like one helluva good time!!!

Special Note - In light of continued economic realities and requests from people who want to see the music but can’t swing the cost of the whole weekend, we’re going to offer a “music-and-film only” $30 ticket for each of the three performances – Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night. As much as we'd love to have you spend the weekend with all of us, we understand!

For those who have purchased the weekend packages, we have extra goodies in store for you, like t-shirts, posters, Friday night Happy Hour, the luncheon buffet and other treats!!!

Please let us know if your birthday falls around the time of the event so we can help you celebrate. We already know there's a bunch of us April/May babies.  We don't want to forget anyone so let us know the date!!

And finally, we're putting a little booklet together.  We're asking people to email stories about their NRBQ/TARRQ experiences to Stacey: sasinct@gmail.com  It can be a story from a road trip, a magical moment,  the road that lead you here . . . whatever.  It's just another way for us to share our love for the scene! We all have GREAT stories to tell.

This has been a HUGE undertaking and we are grateful to the incredible musicians who have been a sheer pleasure to work with and to YOU for supporting this fan based effort!!. We're really looking forward to seeing all of you in April!!!!

Stacey, Donna and The Clang! Thang Crew
